Making Friends with Weather
Making Friends with Weather
Let's gather together for heartfelt learning and sharing.
How is weather affecting you? How are you feeling about the weather? What is extreme weather? Is there something we can do?
Get in touch with your feelings about extreme weather and increase your “weather wisdom” in this empowering workshop.
In this two-hour program, go on a nature walk to connect with Ivy River, who invites us to deepen our relationship with weather and the sources of water. We'll explore traditional perspectives and personal responses to what the weather presents to us and its effects on our families and communities.
Please bring a blanket to sit in circle. We will gather around a fire or candle. If you're a note-taker, bring a notebook and pen.
Led by Adam Laufer and Erin Everett, initiated Nahua tradition-holders.
Here’s what Making Friends with Weather is like, from the people who attended:
“The location was wonderful. The fire was warming and resourceful. The pace was calming. The sharing about the roots of the weather [tradition] was enlightening. The connection to the food growers made it simple to grasp and easy to feel. Allowing everyone to speak about why they came allowed communion and diversity to enter the space.”
"So many things were right about this event! It felt good to come into the space with a warm fire and a place prepared. The historical context was also helpful... For me to be able to honor the ...weather was a welcome shift . The info I received ahead of time to know what to bring and how to dress also helpful!! The size of the group was also good."

"[I loved the] sharing from each of you about backgrounds and experiences, hearing from participants. I especially enjoyed the silent descent and time by the river."
